We will work harder to get first place in the clean survey: Commissioner Verma


PHAGWARA:Phagwara Municipal Corporation “Open Defecation Free”ODF Plus Plus) has been given a double plus rating for open defecation by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, which is a matter of pride for the city which became a Municipal Corporation a few years back.
 Rajiv Verma, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation said that this important achievement was possible only with the cooperation of the people of Phagwara Municipal Corporation Health Branch and all the staff as per the criteria set by the Government of India.  He said that now the next target of the Municipal Corporation would be to participate in the Clean Survey 2021 and work diligently to get the first position.
 He said that Phagwara Municipal Corporation had provided all possible facilities for latrines in public places and under the schemes of Punjab government latrines were being constructed on a large scale.  Apart from this the people were also made aware about the diseases and social problems caused by open defecation which was very helpful in this achievement.
 He appealed to the people of the city to cooperate with the administration in bringing the city of Phagwara to the forefront in the Clean Survey 2021.  On this occasion Assistant Commissioner Ranbir Singh, Secretary Pradeep Kumar, Health Officer Dr.  Krishan, Superintendent Amit Kalia, Chief Sanitary Inspector Malkit Singh, Sanitary Inspector Ajmer Singh, Sunny Gupta were also present.
