New Year 2020: From illuminated Burj Khalifa to fireworks at Sydney Harbour, how the world celebrated beginning of new decade

New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: As the world celebrates the New Year, every country has its unique way of celebrating this special occasion. The first of all the countries to celebrate the New Year was New Zealand as it lies far in the east. The sovereign island country in the southwestern pacific ocean kicked off the New Year celebrations by lighting a firework.

Sharing the video on Twitter, a user wrote, “Our little Pacific paradise, NewZealand, is the first major nation to usher in the NewYear. Great firework display in Auckland! May 2020 be a great year for our great country and may all 5 million Kiwis have good health and happiness.”

A couple of hours later, Australia too celebrated the New Year by lighting the Sydney harbour. Take a look:

Hundreds of thousands of people witnessed a breathtaking firework display at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa during the New Year 2020 celebrations. The epicenter of the revelry was the world’s tallest building — Burj Khalifa.

Plenty of fireworks exploded in the skies above Burj Khalifa and the rest of the city at the stroke of midnight to the delight of several people.

Just before the New Year 2020 countdown, mysterious streaks of light appeared above Dubai. Sort of like a meteor shower, but moving leisurely. Then, the streaks of light moved horizontally in the vicinity above the Burj Khalifa tower.

While Thailand ringed in the New Year amid fireworks display that ran along the length of the Chao Phraya river in the capital city.

More than one and a half million people turned out in Bangkok to watch the spectacular and glittering fireworks at the Chao Phraya River for the New Year 2020 celebrations. Plenty of fireworks exploded in the skies above Chao Phraya river and the rest of the capital city at the stroke of midnight to the delight of scores of people.

Meanwhile, in Turkey, hundreds of people turned out to watch the spectacular and glittering fireworks at the Bosphorus strait of Istanbul city for the New Year celebrations.

Loads of fireworks exploded in the skies above Bosphorus strait and the rest of the city at the stroke of midnight to the delight of scores of people. More than 300,000 security personnel were deployed across Turkey to ensure order and safety during this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Interior Ministry said as reported by ANI.
